To Blog or Not To Blog

Posted on May 16, 2008. Filed under: Family |

It wasn’t all that long ago I told Pete over at Freaked Out Fathers that I was going to take a hiatus from blogging.  Well… I found some spare time today and realized I have been doing quite a bit of commenting on other blogs and I wouldn’t mind doing some blogging of my own.

I have been very wishy-washy when it comes to blogging.  It is fun to do, it works as a form of journaling which helps one to be more reflective about life, but… it consumes time.  Then again, so does watching TV and I still manage to watch my share of television.  The real question is this, “Is blogging a good use of time?”

I’d like to think that this blog would be some amusement to my son when is he old enough to read and understand what is here.  If an occasional entry here, offers my son a little insight into what his old man is or was like, then I would have to say this is a worthwhile endeavor.

So, with that thought in mind.  I believe I will continue blogging.  No promises that I will post regularly, but I will give it a worthy go.

That’s good news to me. But I do apologise if I exerted a little peer pressure there. Make it work for you as you have in the past and have fun with it.

By the way, particularly when I think back to an earlier incarnation of this blog, when you lived in a different town and had a different lifestyle, you had many many moments of poignant and thought-provoking writing. Blogging is whatever the blogger makes it and lets face it, most of what we write is fun and games, or just processing events to help us wrap our own heads around them etc. But occasionally because you’re already in the writer’s space, when some big thorn gets in your flesh or you learn something astounding, you have the opportunity to pass it on.

I’m not pushing you to write a treatise on the nature of suffering or to write the next Dune novel (please God, no, not another one). But a part of you Jonathan is The Writer, and I’m looking forward to what comes from his keyboard.

Welcome back to the Blogosphere!

Thank you for the encouragement Pete! :)

Great to see you back! I’m with Pete ;)

Thanks, Michelle. How are the Molks doing?

We’re doing ok – I will blog too – eventually…;)
